Search's primary processing consists of Magnetic Concentration (MC), which crushes and grinds materials to feed them into magnetic separation devices. These devices produce three outputs:
- Magnetic concentrate containing predominantly magnetite, separated by Low Intensity Magnetic Separation (LIMS)
- Magnetic concentrate containing the majority of the rare earth element values in the processed materials, separated by Wet High Intensity Magnetic Separation (WHIMS)
- The remaining portion which includes non-magnetic material such as zirconium and hafnium
Once separated, all of these materials can undergo further processing to enter into the supply chain, including Search's patented Direct Extraction (DX) technology.
Search's primary processing produces dry stackable mine tailings, minimizing environmental impact compared to traditional separation processes.
